Extra Lamination Film: DIY Crafts for Therapy
Wait! Don't throw away those large scraps of lamination just yet!
With all of the great TpT products that get laminated, we can very quickly generate a LOT of wasted plastic! Having always been keen on recycling and reducing waste, I brainstormed a couple of ways to use those sheets of plastic film that are left over at the after each trip to the laminator.
One of my favorite ways to use the extra laminate film is to make pouches for my Clean the Pig activity, play dough smash mats, or any dry erase activity sheet! All you need is the a piece of paper (to get the desired measurements), the plastic film, and decorative duct tape!
The second thing I use the scraps for is to create a Dale Chihuly inspired Articulation Chandelier to hang in the speech room or out in the hallway. To create the pieces for the articulation chandelier, distribute large scraps of laminate so that each kid has one. Have the students draw a black blob outline and then decorate the inside with Sharpies. The kids can write or draw speech words on the laminate. After each piece has been filled in with color, cut out the blob shape. At home/after the session, melt the students' artwork over the top of a terra cotta pot with a heat gun. NOTE: Don't let the students melt the laminate because the heat gun gets pretty hot!
After the laminate pieces are melted and shaped as desired, you can punch a hole and hang them in a cluster to make a chandelier!
